What the @%$*

This was supposed to be the title for another post.... but I think it will cover this one just fine. Let me set up the senario... my mom & I are shopping in a little shop in Sequim (the next town over) when I get hit w/ an unexpected curve ball.

Shop Keeper: Hi how are you today?

Melyssa: Good how are you?

Shop Keeper: How far along are you? (hole dug)

Melyssa: {jaw dropped... pissed off... red colored - just so you get the full picture} Me!!!!???? Oh no... as I continue to walk away from this *&^#$%@ old hag:) (no hurt feelings or anything)

Shop Keeper: Oh I'm so sorry... (she continues as I continue to walk as far away as possible) Oh someone once said that to me - but I was older than you ... (hole dug deeper)

I continue to walk around the store... hopping mad (saying NOTHING to my mother) the lady comes out of her safe spot (surrouned by the counter... she really should have stayed there!!!) comes to hunt me down for somemore taunting....

Shop Keeper: I'm so sorry I said that!

My thoughts.... leave - leave now & I won't kick your ass!

Shop Keeper: I guess sometimes we just get "relaxed" (hole has been dug to China at this moment in time)

OK so now shes not even trying to appoligize (@ least not in my eyes 'cause YOU JUST PLAIN OUT CALLED ME FAT!!!!)

At that moment I said it was really ok (through gritted teath) and just about ran out of said store!!

So am I really that fat.... {please only comment if the answer is NO:) hehehe}

The Big 25!!

Luke turned 25 this past Sunday... what a milestone (that most of us hit a while ago... well at least 2 yrs. ago hehe)! He had a wonderful B-day weekend... Friday was sushi - yes you all read correctly, Luke WANTED sushi for his Birthday. Have I had an influence on this kid or what?:)So these are our friends who came to sushi with us for the big B-day... yes thanks to Luke we have friends:) Yippeee .... people to socialize with (not that Luke's not good to socialize with... I just need a little more variety every once in a while:))
Saturday was just a normal day... it was rainy out so we watched a movie and had pizza... it's been way too long since we've done that! It was sooooooo nice:)

Sunday... Luke got to sleep in 'till 11am - very difficult for Angie and I! Then I made him breakfast in bed... much to my surprise he actually ate it in bed and didn't complain about being woken up (this has happened in the past when I've made breakfast in bed for him)! Happy Birthday Honey!!!!!!

I am the bomb-diggity

Oh ya... I'm feelin' pretty darn proud of myself right now!! For those of you who are unawares of the fact that I'm a little... lets say computer not-so-savey (Jenny's well aware of this fact). So I wasn't so hyped about the whole blog idea... I figured it would be Luke's baby. But you know how boys are - soooo unreliable. Especially when you're a little type A & everything needs to be done perfectly right away... not something I'm proud of:)

Anyway enough background info. So just now... yes that's right just this second I, Melyssa Marland, fixed all the photos in our past posts on this very blog! I am sooooo excited! I figured it out all by my lonesome... please hold the applause:)

So please if you looked at our former blogs ... they are now new & perfect (in my eyes at least) so please... pretty please look at them again... just to humor me!!!

Our House... is a very very very fine house

Our fist home... who hoo... how exciting right??? Well who even knew if I would like it, since I hadn't even had a chance to see it. Note to self: before moving totally cross country to a new state, city & far far away from all friends and family... make sure you have a chance to physically check out the house that your husband just bought!
Well surprise surprise... I liked it, to Luke's relief:) Once I added my personal touches it was perfect & cute:) yippy! Any hoo.... here are the pics. everyone has been bugging us for, voila!!! Our first house... can't wait for you all to come and see it in person!

Our lofty area... consists of our den, office & my craft room (aka craft space) I can't complain though my craft area is bigger than it's ever been before - not that that's saying much:)

A birds eye view... Luke took pics. of the living room/dining room (minus the dining room table - still working on that one little piece)

Cross Country Pics.

Here are some random photos of our LONG trip cross country:)
Lets see... The Buffalo was taken in Yellowstone - very cute isn't he:) We saw all sorts of wildlife in Yellowstone - um... I think maybe a deer and then just tons of buffalo - I think they ate everything else!

The Badland's ... that's where Luke is THE KING OF THE WORLD!

Then ofcourse Mt. Rushmore... can I just say WOW! Everyone must go to Rushmore!

Finally me & my cowboy/farmer! He was very polite...
he even called me maam ~ please note - he is the only
one who is ever allowed to maam me! Talk about adding 10 years...
it makes me feel soooo old:( Oh and I almost forgot
The Corn Palace (so sorry.... it was so hmmm - memorable
- ok maybe not!!) The whole bulding is decorated in corn...
very interesting when you haven't seen much of anything for
about a bajilion miles!!!

Washington or bust

Well... It all started in the state of Rhode Island at about 1230. Our transport vehicle was awaiting us. We had completed our last breakfast at Melyssas' parents house. We said our last good-bye's and were on our way. Oh wait just one more hug. Ok let's go. NO, yet another hug. Well finally we had left and the phone rings. Melyssas mother, "you forgot your book." Ok to her parents store we go to meet them for the book. As we arrive, her parents are waiting with the book, and yes you guessed it... One more hug!

We had finally left on our journey to the "mountain state" as melyssa would call it. Oh, wait, i though it was the "evergreen state." Well anyways, she sat quietly and patiently awaiting our arrival at our final destination. We were very aware as the first couple of hours passed. We must have thought we would be there by nightfall. We entered CT at about 1220 and melyssa tried to take a picture of the "entering CT" sign... oh but the camera doesn't really work well when your traveling at aoubt 85 MPH. ZOOM, right passed. We entered NY around 211 and it should have been a quick trip through. Did I say should have? Oh yeah, we have this handy dandy navigation system that I was trying to follow, but when I headed the right way, melyssa yells out "No, take that road" so I do... Right into the BRONX. Yes the Bronx. I was thinking if I got lost it would be sometime away from the North East. So what should have been a 15/20 minute trip in NY took about 45 to and hour. Sweet! Thanks hun, now can we let the lady on the navigation system show me the way. We drove until our little butt's couldn't take it anymore. The state of Pennsylvania was asking us to stay for the night. As a white squal passed by, both myself and melyssa couldn't see the hood of the car, so we stopped and took a load off.

We woke up on Tuesday to continue our journey. We went through Ohio and got some breakfast at a very friendly truck stop. As we were eating... "ding, now number 86, your shower is available." Oh sweet I was thinking my little stinka girl could take a shower. That's funny. Well we continued to Indiana. This is where things get a little crazy. Our navigator is telling us to take a certain road south. Away from our destination, so I follow. Then all of a sudden it says take your next exit. "Where to" I think to myself, to another highway. WRONG! A one lane road into the middle of flippin nowhere. "Oh this should be quick" I say. About 2 hours later we finally got back to a highway. OH MY GOD! So we finally were back on our way... on a highway. We went through Illinois... A blur, and then entered Iowa... another blur. A blur you ask, yes nothing but corn fields. We did cross the mississippi river. WOOHOO! That just seemed like it would have been more fun than it was. Nope, just another brown river. We found a hotel in Iowa after a long day of excitment.

We woke up on Wednesday still in Iowa. We showered, packed and were off. As we neared the end of Iowa we stopped for gas, and who pulls up next to us... A Cowboy. Yes a real cowboy, on a big freikin tractor to fill up. I felt out of place. Not melyssa, she got a picture with Mr. Cowboy on the tractor. I would not lie. We finally entered South Dakota and drove till we got to Mount Rushmore, finally a beautiful sight. We ate, slept and looked at the mountain. Yes Dave, it's real. Oh and melyssa had to stop at an antique shop in rushmore before we left and guess what we bought. An IRON, an old, black, iron!... Oh how beautiful! Just what I always wanted.

Day four was pretty cool. We were off to Yellowstone. As we arrive at the east entrance we hit traffic. Yes a traffic jam "IN" yellowstone. The only traffic we hit this whole journey... was in a flippin national park. Try to figure that one out. Well once we got through, we were on our way to see buffalo, deer, elk, stinky hot and mud springs, and a geiser or two. Pretty neat. Well we finally got through Yellowstone and we were finally off to Washington. We entered Montana and pulled over for another nights rest.

We woke up and were off. Washington or BUST. We drove throught lots of mountains in Montana, Idaho, and last but not least Washington. We pulled into the Ferry Lot at about 545 PM in Seattle for the trip to Bainbridge Island. What a long trip, and lastly we make it to Port Angeles WA at about 848 PM. We got a hotel and slept till the morning when we would get the key to our new home.

WOOHOO! We awoke and were off to get our key. We get it and head to our house. When we arrive there, we unpack the car and set up shop in our bedroom. The next 4 days would be spent on an air mattress in an empty house... and best of all it's the weekend and we have no water. Can you say Stinka Girl and Boy. We were in our prime come monday morning. Josie and Jenny would have been proud. Well we finally got water and finally got the house painted and finally got our shippment of goods. We are now unpacked and settled in to our wonderful new house. You are all welcome to come and visit. Hope to here from you guys soon.
