Playing Catch-up

Ok ... ok.... So I just posted 3 posts in a row ... oh wait make that 4 :)i'm definitely realizing that I had a ton to catch-up on! so from now on I will TRY my hardest to do this whole updating a little more frequently so as to not overload you w/ info. hehehe

Oh Christmas Tree ... etc. etc.:)

Our first Christmas not only in WA state... but our first Christmas
together (as married people) where we actually picked out and decorated our tree together:)

As you all remember this time last year I was sick as a dog ... the word "Honeymoon" ring any bells??? Any way... much healthier & happier this Christmas!!! And thanking god that we didn't take any vacations this year hehehe:)

Well I won't make you wait any longer... Christmas tree pics ( it's tiny but it's CUTE:)) Please note... still no fireplace!!! oh and also just how adorable Angie is:)

As many of you already know... via the news etc. we have had some major storms in the last month or so... fun fun! So here are some pics Luke took out @ his station of the last "rain storm" aka Hurricane (that would be the North East term any who) that we had... bye the way... that's a 30ft. wave up there... yeah that would be 3o ft. high (oh boy)

FIRE!!!!!!

Ok... let me set the scene. A week or so ago on a Thursday night @ 8:30pm Luke and I were watching tv when we hear a siren for about a 1/2 hour going off and getting closer and closer to our house. We start looking @ each other like "is our house on fire and we just don't know it???"

As the fire truck gets even closer we start to hear a voice over what seems to be a loud-speaker @ this point we have our ears pressed to our skylight upstairs to hear exactly what was going on... Luke looks @ me and says " I think they're saying Merry Christmas" well then we start hearing Christmas music blaring over the loud speaker as well as this guy (maybe Santa) is saying Merry Chirstmas!

SO we rush downstairs - throw our shoes & coats on and run outside... creeping up our road is a fire truck light up... blaring country christmas songs w/ Santa on top with the loud speaker and about 20-30 people hanging off the truck. We took a pic... didn't come out so well but you'll get the gist of it... boy did we move to a STRANGE town:)

A little surgery

Angie had surgery 2 weeks ago today, she got spayed... no puppies for her:( these pics are from the day after when I unfortunately had to go to work and she had to wear THE CONE!!! This pic by the couch is when she looked @ me and turned her head away as if to say... mom you sooo better stop taking my picture -
don't you know how pissed I am at you right now:)
She's still a cutie ~ cone and all!

Shout out

I have to send a little shout out to my favorite miss josie... who has lost 30 lbs. yes that is right... 3 with a 0 following it! yeay miss jos... keep up the good work:)

on a side note i got weighed @ the Dr.'s the other day and I've lost 1 lb. (yuck... 1 lousy pound... Jos I need to take a little advice or something from you:))

My orange apron

I'm hanging up my orange apron.... as of tomorrow I will no longer be a Home Depot employee:):( Not sure how I feel about it yet... I know I will miss the cute old men who make jokes and flirt with me:) as for the management & the grumpy old people...not so much:) Any who, it lasted about 2 months (me in a hardware store) who knew:)

I'll still be @ Doodlebugs (pictures to come) my favorite job eva (well since moving to WA:)) my creative skills have been growing... I'm lovin' it!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

So here's an extension to our update on the little snowfall we have recieved here in the land of "no snow"... So this is the final measurement of our snow-storm (there are no blizzards or hurricanes here it's just a "storm" even w/ 90mph winds/rain etc. ... just a storm ~ these westerners are nuts:)) any who... the end of our snowfall...

Holy crap!!!

Ok ok ok... I know it's been over a month since I've posted anything and I appoligize... life happens:) Any who.... here is what it looks like outside our house @ the moment! Well actually these were taken @ 11 this morning and since it's now 3pm it's about 2 to 3 times as bad!
Isn't Angie cute in here little vest though:)

Happy late Turkey Day everyone... we missed the East coast Thanksgiving (I think I might have pulled it off:)) Love you all tons:)

Oh our little Angie is o' so cute with a capital C-U-T-E! That is when she's sleeping, tired, laying down... well you get the picture!

Then there are moments like tonight when she goes and does this... Yes that's an ENTIRE roll of TP shredded to itty bitty teeny weeny pieces! The worst part... I had just vaccumed earlier today:) Well we love her anyway - but she is a big ol' {cute} pain in the ass:)

And just so all you bad dogs out there know... this is where you'll end up - behind bars! So NO shredding of the TP por favor:)

Strange things are happening!

So this happened a while ago but it was soooo strange and slightly funny that I had to fill you all in:)

Ok... 11:30pm Sunday September 24th, Luke, my parents and I had just returned from a day trip to see my cousin in Seattle ...

We get home and there are red roses tucked into my parents car door handle. So I asked my dad if he put them there for my mom {you never know:)} he said no... so i thought that was a little strange.

Then I look at the screen door on our front door & there are TONS of flowers decorating the entire door - even stranger!

I call Luke to walk over with me to look @ the door - 'cause I was more than a little scared:) We go to look and the flowers are strategically placed in each little curly Q decorative part of the door - ranging from large to small down to the door mat which had two apples placed on it... realy strange:) The whole thing looked like a shrine - a little freeky!

I so wish that we took a picture but we were so freeked out that we took the flowers off as quick as possible!

Turns out it was the neighborhood kids leaving a little surprise for us - but coming home to a dark house w/ a shrine on the front door... not a nice surprise it my book:)

Nothing new on the home front!

So everyone is asking for more, more, more... well besides work not much has happened!

The last week in September my parents were here... very fun - nice to see them... but spending a week with your parents who you haven't lived with for a while - while entertaining them 24/7 is a little trying:) not that we don't want them to come back 'cause it was SOOOOOO GOOD to see them!!!!!

Then Jaime came for a long weekend the second weekend in October... so much fun!!! It was really great to have family around!!! We miss you all so much!!!

Besides visitors i've been working -what feels like non stop- @ both Home Depot & Doodlebugs (which is the best job ever - 2nd to Zero Wampum of course:))

Oh.... here's some exciting news - we got our diningroom table!!!!!!!!! yeah!!! sooooooooooo fun:) SIMPLE PLEASURES!

What the @%$*

This was supposed to be the title for another post.... but I think it will cover this one just fine. Let me set up the senario... my mom & I are shopping in a little shop in Sequim (the next town over) when I get hit w/ an unexpected curve ball.

Shop Keeper: Hi how are you today?

Melyssa: Good how are you?

Shop Keeper: How far along are you? (hole dug)

Melyssa: {jaw dropped... pissed off... red colored - just so you get the full picture} Me!!!!???? Oh no... as I continue to walk away from this *&^#$%@ old hag:) (no hurt feelings or anything)

Shop Keeper: Oh I'm so sorry... (she continues as I continue to walk as far away as possible) Oh someone once said that to me - but I was older than you ... (hole dug deeper)

I continue to walk around the store... hopping mad (saying NOTHING to my mother) the lady comes out of her safe spot (surrouned by the counter... she really should have stayed there!!!) comes to hunt me down for somemore taunting....

Shop Keeper: I'm so sorry I said that!

My thoughts.... leave - leave now & I won't kick your ass!

Shop Keeper: I guess sometimes we just get "relaxed" (hole has been dug to China at this moment in time)

OK so now shes not even trying to appoligize (@ least not in my eyes 'cause YOU JUST PLAIN OUT CALLED ME FAT!!!!)

At that moment I said it was really ok (through gritted teath) and just about ran out of said store!!

So am I really that fat.... {please only comment if the answer is NO:) hehehe}

Would you like cream, sugar or.... paper towel w/ that?

This happened soooo long ago but I just had to post it!!
On one of the 1st occasions that Luke decided to get the coffee maker ready for the next morning... this happened!

L- where are the filters?
M- it's inside the coffee maker.

@ bed time (about 1/2 hr. later)
M-did you get your coffee all set up?
L-ya... i had to use paper towel for a filter.
M-(laughing hysterically) you what?
L-i put paper towel in for a filter!
M-i have to go out a see this!

So as some of you may already know... I got a job at Home Depot! Thats right Melyssa {girly girl} Marland is working @ a place where they sell tools:) And as some of you may wonder... I am well aware that I have to wear orange!

I also got a 2nd job - for a girl who isn't too fond of working I'm pretty impressed w/ myself:) I'm part-part time @ a scrapbooking store called Doodlebugs... more to come on that job. I don't start until October! I'll keep you all posted on the fun times @ the Depot & Doodlebugs:)

The Big 25!!

Luke turned 25 this past Sunday... what a milestone (that most of us hit a while ago... well at least 2 yrs. ago hehe)! He had a wonderful B-day weekend... Friday was sushi - yes you all read correctly, Luke WANTED sushi for his Birthday. Have I had an influence on this kid or what?:)So these are our friends who came to sushi with us for the big B-day... yes thanks to Luke we have friends:) Yippeee .... people to socialize with (not that Luke's not good to socialize with... I just need a little more variety every once in a while:))
Saturday was just a normal day... it was rainy out so we watched a movie and had pizza... it's been way too long since we've done that! It was sooooooo nice:)

Sunday... Luke got to sleep in 'till 11am - very difficult for Angie and I! Then I made him breakfast in bed... much to my surprise he actually ate it in bed and didn't complain about being woken up (this has happened in the past when I've made breakfast in bed for him)! Happy Birthday Honey!!!!!!

I am the bomb-diggity

Oh ya... I'm feelin' pretty darn proud of myself right now!! For those of you who are unawares of the fact that I'm a little... lets say computer not-so-savey (Jenny's well aware of this fact). So I wasn't so hyped about the whole blog idea... I figured it would be Luke's baby. But you know how boys are - soooo unreliable. Especially when you're a little type A & everything needs to be done perfectly right away... not something I'm proud of:)

Anyway enough background info. So just now... yes that's right just this second I, Melyssa Marland, fixed all the photos in our past posts on this very blog! I am sooooo excited! I figured it out all by my lonesome... please hold the applause:)

So please if you looked at our former blogs ... they are now new & perfect (in my eyes at least) so please... pretty please look at them again... just to humor me!!!

Our House... is a very very very fine house

Our fist home... who hoo... how exciting right??? Well who even knew if I would like it, since I hadn't even had a chance to see it. Note to self: before moving totally cross country to a new state, city & far far away from all friends and family... make sure you have a chance to physically check out the house that your husband just bought!
Well surprise surprise... I liked it, to Luke's relief:) Once I added my personal touches it was perfect & cute:) yippy! Any hoo.... here are the pics. everyone has been bugging us for, voila!!! Our first house... can't wait for you all to come and see it in person!

Our lofty area... consists of our den, office & my craft room (aka craft space) I can't complain though my craft area is bigger than it's ever been before - not that that's saying much:)

Lets see... The Buffalo was taken in Yellowstone - very cute isn't he:) We saw all sorts of wildlife in Yellowstone - um... I think maybe a deer and then just tons of buffalo - I think they ate everything else!
